Storyboard

During the course Managers @ work, I read some articles about interesting managerial topics. The first topic that interested me was “managerial skills and competencies” and the second article was covered during the whole course, namely “gender differences in management”.
The first blog entry is about the shift of managerial qualities from hard skills to more soft skills. To become an outstanding leader you need to have a certain degree of IQ, but you also need a certain degree of EQ.
The second blog entry is about the difference in soft skills between male and female managers. I found some articles which stated that women possess better soft skills than men. The third blog entry states the following statement: “Women are the new generation of managers, since they possess better soft skills than men”. This statement follows from the previous two blog entries. If management shift from hard skills to soft skills, and women are mentioned as the gender that possess better soft skills, then a logical follow up is that women should become the new generation of managers. In order to give several perspectives and pros and cons about this statement I entered some comments on the blog entry. These comments should give the reader of the blog the ability to make up his/her mind and form his/her own opinion.
The fourth blog entry is about the question whether women are really that eager to enter into top management functions. I found out that there are only few women in top management functions, which raises the question “why?”. To give some perspectives on this, I made some comments on the blog, which include for example the glass ceiling, the glass cliff, family issues etc.
